Brake Story from the wedding...

Ok super quick entry because we leave in the morning for racing... Never a dull moment in the Silva household LOL...

Brake Story from the wedding...
Ok, so as you know I am aware of my brakes getting loud during my trip...
But hey I use to drive a 1991 chevy suburban and the brakes were ALWAYS making noises, so I was aware of it but not too concerned...
We had to make 2 trips down to downtown Los Angeles to the flower mart to buy flowers, and drive all over town trying to find mints for the wedding favors, plus I had to take all the bridesmaids to get their hair done at the hairdresser at 6am the day of the wedding... then I had to leave the hairdresser and drive to Pam H;'s house to pick up wedding bouquets... and that is when I knew there was HUGE problem... the brakes were no longer squeaking, they were grinding metal on metal... Oh shit... but what could I do...
My daughter was getting married that day right? So I just kept a good distance between me and cars...
Candice was married on the beach but to get down there... it was this huge down hill into the parking lot! I swear I thought I was going to lose my brakes going down there and wipe out all the chairs for the ceremony!
I made it down there safely... whew... then Sam and I drove to the reception... oh boy they were getting WAY worse on the way but again what could we do? Sam said "We'll make it home and Ill get them fixed"
After the reception I had to make 2 trips to the hotel... lugging guests and gifts... after the last trip from the reception to the hotel... I felt this noise, it sounded like "CUUNK" and the Excursion lurched... Thank GOD I was just pulling into the parking space at the hotel... Then the brake light came on!  When the idiot light comes on you know you have problems! I was just grateful I made it to the hotel... I told Sam "The light just came on for the brakes" and he said "Ok, Ill check it out in the morning"  and we went to the wedding after party at the hotel...
The next morning, as Sam and I walk to the Excursion to start unloading all the wedding presents into Candice and Mike's car we noticed a HUGE brake fluid puddle by my tire...
So we had to call AAA and have the car towed to a dealership... then Sam dropped me off at Pam H's house and he headed home with Kameron and Amber...
The car was fixed the next day [Monday] and Gram Pam and I FINALLY headed home at 8pm Monday night...
It cost over $800...
I know someone was looking out for us that week... what if that happened in downtown LA? OMG!!! I was SO lucky the car waited till the wedding and reception was over to finally breakdown...

Grampa must have been there... helping us that day... Thanks Dad...

Honey you were sooooo lucky. You had to have an angel on your side. I'm so happy you got all you needed done before they went out completely and that no one was hurt.
Take care and Hugs, Chrissie

Really glad to hear those brakes held out so you could get the wedding done with. What a whirlwind! XO
