Kieffer update

Day 10 - Monday - Stories from Texas

We left Lake Whitney yesterday.  Kieffer took an 11th in his last main race.  One more place and he would have brought home another trophy!!  Anyway, right after we left Whitney, the bed in the back of our trailer fell and broke.  Just one more thing we had break in the trailer... the dinette bench came unbolted from the wall when the boys were playing guitar hero, the pole in the closet fell and broke... Its been one thing after another I swear...

So anyway 3 miles after we left Whitney we find our friends on the side of the road with a broken tire [actually the tire came off and flew across the road] 

So we stopped to see if we could help. 

So many other people stopped to help too.  I was amazed!

Seriously, Texans are the BEST kind of people.

That would NEVER happen in California!

After that we headed 3 hours north to the next Texas National at Oak Hill Raceway. 

It was NOT easy to find.  Once we did find it at 7:30pm we had to wait in an RV line for 4 hours.  The kids got bored and started walking down the country road to see how much further we had to go.

[AKA the dog whisperer] found the biggest dog I have ever seen.

He looked scary

but he was the biggest slobbering baby I swear!

 

After they played with the dog,

Kieffer and Kameron started playing Frisbee... Then we came across some good ole' boys smoking huge slabs of meat for the track... they even had the confederate flag flying...

Kieffer came back to the truck and says

"I've been invited to stay and eat with them but I need some gasoline..." 

"What do you need gasoline for?"

"For the cross burning tonight..." 

"OMG!!! Kieffer shut up and get in the truck"

 

Finally, at 1am we were in the gates and unhooking the trailer.  Sam, Kameron, Bolts and me went to a hotel [the bed was broken and we didn't feel like unloading 8 bikes at 1am]  Kieffer stayed because his bunk was fine and he was tired.

When we came back to the trailer the next day, Kieffer had unloaded everything...

It was SOOOOO nice...

 

It was easy to fix all the broken stuff after that...

Sam is my hero, My Mr. fix it man.  I went up to registration and checked them in for racing.  Then we started tarping everything for 3 inches of rain... but they kept down grading the storm.  80% chance, then 30% chance etc...  We thought it would pass us by... We couldn't have been more wrong!!!

That night it started pouring...

One of the worst storms to hit Dallas in years!  the airport canceled flights.

We had to have our 4 wheel drive truck pulled out of the mud by the tractor because we got stuck outside our campsite...

[we went to a hotel because the last place I wanted to be during tornado watches was a small trailer in the middle of a field]

We got 7 inches of rain...

7 inches... 

I guess everything is bigger in Texas including storms!!!

We were joking with our friends saying things like...

"Well I guess we will swim laps across the track for a trophy"

 [Our friends who came by our campsite and almost got stuck too, they got their truck covered in mud trying to get out!]

Right now we are headed back to the track for practice...  Somehow they got the track cleaned up enough to race... its going to be another muddy messy day... and this time we don't have RV hook ups for the power washer...

Yesterday, Sam and I bought two big barrels from the feed store $10 each... we will fill them with water for the power washer and to refill the trailer water...

I just let the 5th girl in the house since Kieffer has been home from the hospital... They come in shifts... its weird... or maybe he plans it that way... 

He says he doesn't and he doesn't care if they run into each other either...

Quick note to say Kieffer is out of surgery and home... Yaaaaa!!!!!!

We thought he was gonna have to stay in the hospital but nope he's home...

We came home and took a long nap...  Kieffer is still sleeping.... His leg is numb because they put a pain pump in his knee area and its pumping lidocaine in it... I take it out in the morning....

He was in a good mood waiting to go into surgery...   A very pretty nurse had to draw his blood... and after she left he says

"Do you think she'd let me poke her next time?" 

 

Oh brother...

 

Right after he broke his leg, we were in the EMT tent at the track.  Kieffer was slowly trying to get his boot off and we were all joking around trying to keep the mood somewhat light in spite of what happened...

 

"So... where ya'all from?"

"Palm Springs, California"

"Oh.... the cereal state!"

"The Cereal State? what do you mean, never heard that before?"

"Full of flakes, nuts and fruits"  we laughed then Kieffer says

"Well, only 2 things come from Texas... Steers and Queers" and they laughed...

 

The cereal state... I guess that accurately describes most people in California...

 

[If anyone from Texas was offended by the comment - Ill have you know we believe the best kind of people live in Texas - People who will stop and help you when you break down on the side of the road, people who actually help you find stuff in Wal-Mart - sorry Lisa Jo but my Wal-Mart is horrible!

Good people live in Texas and if we had to move to another state... that is where I would go... Lake Whitney Texas... for sure]

Sooooo........... here is why Kieffer has to have surgery on his broken leg...

they are putting a rod in Friday at 9am...

Kieffer NEVER breaks anything half ass... when he breaks something he goes for it!

Please don't worry about him... he's not in pain, he has a bunch of friends getting him anything he wants, and he's in a great mood, can't wait for surgery because then he won't have a cast anymore and then he can walk on his leg...  but he'll make you laugh saying things like

"My 12 inch rod makes it hard to walk"

Hey Ya'all,

I'm home from Texas... As you have heard Kieffer broke his leg...

what you don't know is he needs surgery this week on it... UGH!!! 

We flew him home from Dallas yesterday... Direct flight into Palm Springs and they took really good care of him, put him into First Class and made him a bed... Pam took him to his orthopedic today and he took x-rays and the Dr. said he would call us in the morning about surgery... Its his right leg

The x-ray looks like a clean break across the big bone in his lower leg, however it is indented... looks like someone karate chopped his bone and its indented backwards [hence the surgery] but its a clean break... I am so bummed for him... he was doing SO great at the Nationals... He got a holeshot, made his mains, and was on his way to maybe bringing home a championship... he still brought home two trophies...

 

Anyway he has a cast up to his thigh at the moment... We raced home, driving... We left there Saturday at 9pm, drove until 2am... slept at a hotel and then drove 12 hours on Easter, slept at a hotel... and drove another 13 hours home today... and here I am... I sure as HELL missed you guys... I have so many stories to tell and photos to share but for now I gotta get some sleep... its 11pm my time but really more like 1am because I am now use to central time...

 

Man, I missed everyone.... I missed talking to you...  I had to write everything long hand because I forgot my laptop...

I forgot A LOT of stuff!

Oh well, my bed looks so very nice right now

Good Morning everyone from deep in the heart of Texas........Well lets start with  good news!  Keiffer is bring home 2 trophies Woo Hoo Keiffer, congrats for that, were all excited for you and sooooooo happy............now the bad news, there on the way to the hospital to get a cast, we hope that's all, please send all prayers to them, God knows he needs them.....so he was on his last lap of the mains and  Keiffer jumped the triple and the kid cased the double and came to a stop and Keiffer hit the back end of his bike and endoed and then another kid came along and hit his leg.............there at the hospital as I'm writing this.....................and has ask me, Pam to stay when they get home so he can be well taken care of by his 2 main woman in his life, yep that would be his mom and his mom's partner in crime

Last night... Loading up and Kris's birthday

I don't have time to edit photos and make them smaller so... you will have to deal with it ;)  We had Kris's birthday dinner outside on the Veranda Dahling!  [Kris is in the red shirt, Kameron is next to him and Amber is next to Kameron, Kieffer is the one in white sitting down!]  Awww look all 3 boys in a row... It was yummy... then we had cake and ice cream... Then Sam and his cousin Pam took a Jacuzzi...

[Pam was impressed with her air bubble inside her suit... who needs a boob job when you have an air bubble!]

Kameron made the bar [welding and fabricating it] so that all 8 bikes could fit into the toyhauler... pretty good huh!  [Not bad for a kid who has only learned from his father how to do stuff!]

Kameron starts classes at a fabricating/welding school in July... Then he will be certified and school learned ;)

Its 8:53am and we are not gone yet... soon!  I dont know what I am going to do without you guys... Pam will Post results and entries for me... So be very nice to her and read ALL her entries...

We are loading up the trailer FINALLY!!! We are on the road in the morning... so I wanted to say Bye Ya'all till I can post an update or maybe I will have Pam post it for me while I am gone...

Anyway... we are also having a little birthday dinner for Kris [he turns 26 today] OMG I am so old...

Mis Betty Bolts is fast asleep so I will go put her in her crate and finish loading the trailer

OMG I love Pam

I was in the bathroom when Pam came through the laundry room door...

She see's the big mess Amber has made and says "What the Hell is going on around here?"

I was secretly laughing... Pam was saying what I have been thinking all afternoon

"Who's dog is this? All we need is another dog around here!"

Amber says "Its mine isn't he cute"

Pam says "Ya he's cute, but what is he doing here?"

I was laughing so hard into my hand I couldn't believe it...

Ok quick entry because I am kinda irritated right now... Maybe I am just being a bitch... I want you to tell me if I am ok...

We leave in less than 2 days... so you can imagine the stuff going on around here at the moment... garage is open, welding is being done in the trailer, I am doing tons of laundry... washing blankets, pillows, clothes gear etc...

Anyway, Kameron's girlfriend comes over because she knows Kam is leaving for 3 weeks... [Fine I don't have a problem with that] however, she brought her dog Jake [a Pomeranian / Chihuahua] to play with Bolts... Now if you read my last entry, you would understand GiGI doesn't play well with others...

So... because she doesn't play well with others... Amber has this metal gate thing going across the opening to the living room [which I have to walk over every time I go to the laundry room!] Meanwhile she has her laptop and school work all over the couch doing homework for college...

Now I don't have a problem wirth any of it except her bringing her dog over here... It isn't helping us get ready... It is a total distraction... Gi Gi and Rider are totally pissed they can't go in the family room and GiGI keeps growling at the new dog here...

I don't need this at the moment and I dont think it takes a brain surgeon to figure out this is not a great idea...

 Im a sitting here with Betty Baby Bolts on my lap so she will take a nigh-night;) 

I swear having a puppy in the house is like a having a baby in the house only worse... baby's don't run around eating everything they can at 6 weeks old!!!

 

Glamma Kendra has learned she falls asleep fairly quickly watching the letters on the screen getting typed and she loves the pillow I have her on LOL...

What am I going to do when she gets older and still thinks she is a lap dog?

 

GiGi is getting use to her, which is a miracle... huh Candice?

I should have a t-shirt made for GiGi "Does not play well with others" 

I could NEVER take her to a dog park... Sadly that is my own damn fault for not letting her get use to other dogs growing up....

She did get use to Koda [Candice's chihuahua] but that was because he was in LOVE/LUST with her...  He would wait till she laid down and hump her leg like crazy... she just looked at him like "ya whatever, as if"

 

I gave him a Pepe le Pew voice tho... and then said

 

"Ohhhh Mon Cheri, I love you, you are my big black bitch, c'mon give it to me, I know you have it with you!"

 

I don't really have a voice for GiGi...  I do however feel if she was a person she would be Venus Williams the tennis player because she is so buff,  graceful, and fast!

 

Rider I do have a voice for... He has an East Coast upper crust voice and he says

"Oh Really Mother, must you call for me like that? You know I simply will not listen when you do..." 

big sigh... from being bored with me!

I swear he acts like a cat... he is too cool and will not listen...

He is NOT into Baby Bolts at all and barks at her every chance he gets... I think he knows if he is nice to her, he will be all chewed up from her baby teeth... so he keeps her at a distance...

 

Gi Gi is getting much better and her hacklesdon't go up anymore thank goodness... the puppy can walk through her legs and follow her around... but when she needs to be put in her place... Gi Gi simply puts her paw out and pins her to the ground like saying "enough already"...

 

Anyway, this has been a nice break but I gotta go get us ready... besides Pam is going to be here any minute...  [My partner in crime woo hoo]

Lake Whitney Texas... We race here for a week and then we go to Oak Hill Texas to race for a week... 

Over 3,000 racers from all over the country will be there!

We leave in 2 days....

Ahhhhhhh..............   It will take over 19 hours to get there... [well 19 hours is no stops!  That is not going to happen!]  So I would say 2 days to get there... Wow... 

Now everyone will be gratful we are pulling a trailer WITH a toilet! LOL

We are doing pretty good getting ready...

Today Kameron has to weld a new bar to go across the toyhauler to hold the bikes...

It has O ring things in the floor but to maximize the space, the bar works better, plus the bikes don't rub against each other and tear up graphics...

Anyway, I forgot to tell you about the owner of Perris Raceway...

Well there are two owners Rick Johnson and Sebastian Tortelli... these are very famous names in the world of Motocross...  They no longer race as pros but its kind of weird to see them walking around in the pits... what is even more strange is Sebastian Tortelli loves to cook, so you can find him usually behind the grill on Saturday and Sunday's...

Sunday morning he was making crepes

[he's french] and Kameron had some they were great he said...

Just try to imagine your favorite sports celebrity cooking for you?  Doesn't that seem weird? 

Like.... Phil... 5 years from now Tony Stewart is behind the grill at the local Nascar track making you a burger! Doesn't that seem weird?  or

Lisa Jo... Simon at the local Karaoke bar making you a crumpet and tea... See what I mean... strange... just feels weird... 

or

Ellen... Eddie Van Halen grilling up a hot dog at a local concert...

I'm sorry its just a strange thing...

Only a few years ago, I had to stand in line for his autograph and then there he is making crepes... 

Its a twilight zone moment I'm telling you...

Just wanted to share that with all of you...

This weekend just wasn't a good race weekend for us... It happens...

Two weeks ago it was a good one.... Kameron and Kieffer took 1st place and Kameron won a new helmet in a raffle!

 

Everything was an uphill battle at the track... including sign ups... after sign ups we hear Kameron's name over the loud speaker to come to registration...

First they tell us there is another #491, so Kameron has to drop the 1 and become 49... we say okay and do it... [it happens sometimes]

Then they post the races and Kameron's name is not on it?

So we go back to registration and they say...

Oh we're sorry, we were wrong he can use his number #491... Ok so we put the 1 back on... then we find out they are calling him [Gus Butters] during the race? WTH?  We get that straightened out and the next day... they sign him up as Kanernon Silva [age 28] WTH?

 

I should have told Sam its a sign let's go home...

I'm big on signs in life or listening to your inner voice... How many times have you been to the store to buy something and your inner voice says 'get butter' or whatever and you think 'Oh I have plenty' and you get home and its all gone and you need some...  

 

Like I said I should have listened to my inner voice this weekend... What else happened?

Kieffer was in 5th on Saturday and him and another kid banged bars and Kieffer ended up going down and came in 26th I believe... Something like that also happened to Kameron... plus he snapped a foot peg in half [on a bike Kieffer had to use in his next race so they had to hurry up and change it from another bike...

Kieffer's first race on Sunday he dipped his foot and then came of the track saying I think I broke 'my 5th metatorsal in my foot' but when he got off the bike and walked I knew he was going to be okay...

It was a crazy day we were race 2,4,6,8, and 10...

Sam stayed at the starting line all day

Sam's cousin Pam and her family came to the races again on Sunday... [we sold a bike to Pam's grandson Corey who is 13]  they came to pick it up at Perris Raceway which was closer than driving here to get it...

 

Note to Pam - you all are welcome anytime we race... we had a lot of fun hanging with all of you... you guys made a horrible weekend of racing much more fun...  Kept us from thinking about it... ;)

Today is Monday... we leave Friday morning

[ya right... how much you wanna bet we don't leave till Saturday morning]

because we are so not ready...

I have been plugging away at getting ready... you guys would be so proud of me...

Two days ago, when I was home alone [remember] I made a huge pot of Spagetti with Italian sausage, Huge pot of Chili, Big Cooker full of what I call gravy chicken, [I put it over rice] mmmmm mmmm good, made a bunch of burrito or taco meat, 

Then I put it all in freezer bags laid flat in the freezer for easy storage... that made about10 dinners... then I will take a crock pot and line it with a turkey bag and heat up my meals... that way when we are finished with dinner I remove the turkey bag from the crock pot and throw it away... crock pot is clean and ready for the next night... ta da...  I learned to do that little trick while working at Sacred Heart Catholic School Hot Lunch Program... on the day we had Nacho's [and burritos] it was so nice not to have to clean off that Nacho sauce out of a crock pot!

 

Okay well I better back to getting ready to go...
