I love living up here in the country, way better than living in the city... I have the best neighbors too... Thank God!!! On New Years Eve Day my horse neighbors called "We saw Sam drive by with something heavy, do you need help unloading it?" "Yes, we do... thanks" Sam brought up his shop compressor, its about 5 feet tall and very heavy! Next thing ya know, they drove up in the big tractor to help!
When we were all snowed in and Kameron came up in the truck. They came by and asked if he could drag this sleigh thing they use for hay and clear the roads for everyone... Kameron said "Sure" and spent the next hour clearing roads, and driveways with it.
Everyone just seems to help each other out more up here... I have another neighbor up here named Manny... he lives on the other side of the horse neighbors... we have known Manny for 17 years... since we started building this place! He is now 85 and has colon cancer... but he is a character! Still drives, lives alone and tells me funny stories about Palm Springs in its 'hey day'... he was a bartender at the Palm Springs Racquet Club... this was back in the day when Palm Springs closed up everything in the summer! It was a seasonal town! Snow birds only LOL...
I have heard these stories for 17 years... I could retell all of them I have heard them so many times... I have the hardest time just sitting there listening to them again but I do it! He lives alone and loves to talk! Boy does he love to talk! When he came for Thanksgiving I had a few people come up to me and say "That man can talk and his stories go on forever!"
When he is telling me the stories I have heard a million times... In my mind, I just keep thinking "Patience is a virtue, Patience is a virtue" plus I hope when I am 85 someone will listen to my stories over and over while I go to a special place and time in my mind and talk...
Ok... so fast forward to yesterday...
Yesterday Sam went down the hill to our other house to get another load of stuff from our shop... [we are selling the business building down there] he left at 6am and I was still sleeping...
about 10 am I get a call from my horse neighbor "Kendra, can you do me a big favor?" "Sure Jamie what do you need?" "Can you go over to my house and tell my son, his ride forgot to go get him and he needs to head to town now! I think he is welding in the garage and can't hear the phone!"
So I get on my Uggs and go out to the gate... where I find the fence locked and Sam has the keys! I had to climb over our chain link fence [not easy in Uggs I might add!] and walk over there...
Sure enough he was welding... I walk home... and jump back over the fence...
Sam said he would have paid to see that! The whole time I am thinking what if I fall and break a hip or something I dont even have my cell with me! What a dumb ass I am...
A couple hours after my adventure over the fence I hear a car horn beeping and I go outside... It was Manny... letting me know he was heading to the VA hospital today for more tests... I told him I was sorry the gate was locked and I couldn't invite him in... he said "Oh that is ok" and then he talked my ear off through the fence for an hour...
"Patience is a virtue, Patience is a virtue"
I swear we go days and nobody comes by and we don't go out the gate...Sam leaves and what a day I have!!

I always loved living in the country. Me and the city don't mix to well. You're right all the nice people are out in the woods. I think it's great that you're loving the place. I'm like you could careless whether I see another soul or not.
When I first moved in town and we were getting all the hard snows then. I always had a guy friend that would stop by to make sure the driveway was cleared out and he'd make his way up and down the street to clear it a little. I always thought that was nice of him to come check.
Take care and Hugs, Chrissie
I would love to have friendly neighbors like you have! Our neighbors barely wave to each other. The only time they talk to me is when I have a yard sale, or if the guy next door is offering to have an affair...which I refused LOL! I'll tell ya about that sometime! He did it again the other day! LOL!
I wish I'd seen you climb that fence! It's not exactly small, yanno. What if you got stuck?? You are a true blue friend to those neighbors.
I'll call you tonight. I'd like to drive out tomorrow afternoon if it's ok.
Love ya!
you are a totally cool neighbor to be there for Manny..many would not take the time....love the pics....
